Hi, I’m Jerome Feldman.
I’m a certified life coach and strengths-based college transition coach. For more than 30 years, I’ve helped students move successfully from high school to college, and from being students to becoming learners. My sessions are practical and reflective, built on real experience and good questions rather than advice from the front of the room. I still teach writing to college students, many of them finding their way through a system no one explained to them.
I live and work in Greensboro and coach families across the Piedmont Triad.
Why I do this
“The primary purpose of college is to become a learner.”
— Matthew Sanders, Becoming a Learner
College asks a lot of students all at once. The schoolwork changes: there’s more reading, fewer reminders, and study habits that worked in high school don’t always carry over. Life changes too. Students start managing their own time, sleep and money, miss home, look for their people, and make big decisions on their own, often for the first time.
Over the years, I’ve watched capable, hardworking students struggle with this. They weren’t short on ability. No one had helped them get ready for that side of college. Research tells the same story: a sense of belonging, managing yourself, and knowing how you learn matter as much as grades do.
That’s where I come in. I help students make the shift from being a student, who does the work because it’s due, to being a learner, who understands how they think and what matters to them. A degree is one outcome of college, but the bigger one is the person they become along the way.
“The most effective way to change your habits is to focus not on what you want to achieve, but on who you wish to become.” — James Clear, Atomic Habits
